We stayed in Cassis in 2019 travelling from Antibes to Marseilles by train. Our son was in a two week soccer camp outside Marseilles so we were there to pick him up and friends had recommended Cassis.
Cassis is a gorgeous seaside village just east of bustling Marseilles. While it has plenty of tourists, its small size means you don’t feel an onslaught. There are few hotels in Cassis so most travellers stay in Airbnbs.
WOULD WE STAY IN THIS AIRBNB AGAIN?
We stayed in this tiny Airbnb in Cassis, in the center of the village. It was just $177 per night but it is just 1 bedroom, 1 bath for three of us.
It was perfectly fine, however, if we return to Cassis, I have my eye on this beautiful property. Yes, it’s very expensive but if you split it between two families or 3 couples it’s not a bad value.

Would we stay at Cassis again?
Absolutely. One mistake we made was we took a train and didn’t have a car. It’s very hard to get a taxi in Cassis and the train station is far from the center of town, so you need to take a bus up the hill to the train station.

Would we invest in a property in Cassis?
Cassis is intriguing as an investment. You can find everything from 600K Euro apartments that seem promising on up to a 58 million Euro castle. As Cassis is nextdoor to France’s second biggest city in Marseille which enjoys transportation infrastructure and business ties, Cassis is the idealic escape from the big city.
However, Cassis is one of the towns in the French Riviera where you are required to register.

Cassis’ Calanques are Chef’s Kiss. Cassis has a very nice town, a beautiful mountain and the beach and sea are idealic. The calanques take Cassis to a next level. These are finger-like inlets that make for enjoyable hikes from town into a national park.
